A Glimpse into February... ♥

It is a beautiful morning here in our part of the world...
We have been quite busy this past month, but it has been so lovely...
I thought I would share a little glimpse into our February...♥

~
I have been enjoying some time in the kitchen lately.
Now that Dad is home for awhile, it just seems so much more rewarding to cook delicious meals!  {{Smiles}}

 Delicious quiche made with cheese and herb short crust pastry and filled with roasted butternut, red onion, spinach, red pepper, cherry tomatoes, feta and basil.  Recipe to follow soon...♥

Baked Cheesecake with Blueberry Coulis...a slice of heaven on a plate!

A refreshing berry smoothie...hmmm...

I am so eager to see summer come to a close.  I can't remember experiencing such humidity before...
However, before it gets cooler, I hope to fit in a couple beach trips!  {{Smiles}}

Blissful summer days with Caleb...

Finally, after being away over five months, Dad arrived home for a month long visit!  The day we had been anticipating from the time Dad left for China had at long last arrived and the excitement was inexpiable!

Caleb pointing to the aeroplanes...  This little guy is crazy about anything with an engine!

What joy it was to see Dad again after so long...  He flies back to China on March 2nd so we still have one week left together.  Last weekend we enjoyed a short getaway in Greyton in the Overberg.  This quaint country village is my mom's favourite part of the country.

On the Saturday morning, Nancy and I took Beth, Gabrielle and Rebekah for a walk around the village.  We browsed through the little shops and afterwards had a milkshake at a lovely nursery not far from where we were staying.

Girl time... ♥
Gabrielle and I...

 Beth and Gabrielle...

Last week the family went camping...  They left on  Tuesday morning and Nancy and I joined them on Wednesday to celebrate Mom's birthday...  We spent a wonderful day together - swimming, relaxing under the trees and enjoying good food - I always find meals taste much better when cooked and eaten out of doors!
I actually came home Thursday evening (we hadn't organised anyone to look after the house or animals) but Nancy decided she wanted to stay, so I had two whole days to myself...{{smiles}}

On Thursday morning our whole family went canoeing on the Ebb and Flo river.  I took Sofia in my canoe, Rebekah went with Nancy, Beth and Gabrielle went together and Dad took Mom and Caleb on his.  We had such a special, memorable time together as a family!

On the sewing side of things...  For the first time in longer than I care to admit, I decided to sew something for the sheer pleasure of it!  I made a quilted sewing machine cover for my mom as a birthday gift.

I am very happy with how this cover came out...and the fabrics coordinate beautifully!  I need to make one for myself now, but I may tweak things a little bit...  If you are interested in making one too, then you can find the tutorial I used over here.

Well, lovely readers...I must be off.  I am hoping to get stuck into the garden today while it is wonderfully cool...{{Smiles}}

♥ What have you been up to lately? ♥

  5. Hello, my dear friend!

    Oh, how I love these posts that peek inside your world just a bit {{smiles}}

    That quiche looks scrumptious...can you believe that I've never made or even eaten quiche before! After seeing (and drooling!) over yours, I'm thinking that may be the perfect thing to make for Mother's Day. And your cheesecake looks absolutely heavenly...I do love some cheesecake!

    I must say that seeing the pictures of Caleb eating that watermelon has me craving some...I'll have to wait a few more months for it to be in season here. My, how I love that fruit {{winks}}

    I hope you all have a delightful time with your dad...I know you all made some really special memories ♥ The pictures of you and your sisters are so lovely...such sweet sister moments.

    And, of course, I have to admire your sewing creations! That sewing machine cover came out just gorgeous {{smiles}} My mom has been asking me to make a cover for our bread machine for some time now, and I've yet to see a tutorial that isn't overly complicated. I think the tutorial you shared just maybe what I'm looking for, with a few minor adjustments for a bread machine...thank you for sharing that!

    It was a joy getting to catch up with you, Kelly-Anne! Thinking of you often, my friend...hope to chat again soon ♥

    Love always,
    Libby
