a sunday morning ramble...

It was a warm, sunshiny Sunday morning when we set out.

We walked hand in hand through the orchards, smiling at the beauty of our surroundings…

With the change in seasons, the apple and pear trees are now almost bare…

Their crinkly golden brown leaves lie in thick piles on the ground…

“How beautiful the leaves of old.

How full of light and colour are their last days.”

~ John Burroughs

How I love stomping through piles of dry leaves, hearing them crunch beneath my boots…

Here and there you can spot a lone pear clinging to a naked branch…

Further into our walk we came upon a newly ploughed field…

Farmers are sowing oats.

“How many lessons of faith and beauty we should lose if there were no winter in our year!”

~ Thomas Wentworth Higginson

There is something so hopeful about freshly tilled earth…

And then we were met by some sweet woolly faces…

~

In my corner of the world, Winter is setting in…

The mornings are crisp, and sometimes there is frost about.

I am savouring the last of these warmer days, and pottering in the garden whenever I have a spare moment…

This winter I hope to bring out my fabric scraps and pretty ribbons and tackle a few sewing projects…there are letters I want to write, and several good books I would like to read.

But mostly, I want to enjoy spending time with my husband – how wonderful it is to sit beside one another and talk about anything and everything and always having a best friend to drink coffee with.

I know that most of you, sweet readers, are anticipating the arrival of summertime…may this season be one filled with delight.

 Do stop by in the next couple days…I have been working on a special post – the story of how my husband and I met.  {{smiles}}

With love,

Kelly-Anne
