"My brethren, let me say, be like Christ at all times. Imitate him in "public." Most of us live in some sort of public capacity—many of us are called to work before our fellow-men every day. We are watched; our words are caught; our lives are examined—taken to pieces. The eagle-eyed, argus-eyed world observes everything we do, and sharp critics are upon us. Let us live the life of Christ in public. Let us take care that we exhibit our Master, and not ourselves—so that we can say,"It is no longer I that live, but Christ that lives in me."

~ Ye
are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to
be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16, KJV ~

Blessings to you, dear friends...
Kelly-Anne,
ReplyDeleteWhat a true blessing are Spurgeon's words you have shared- thank you so much for this wisdom inspiring me this evening as I visit you :)
And how I do love the example of the candle-light being put on a candlestick, never under a bushel- what a perfect parallel to think on in relation to the true light of the world.
Thank you for these thoughts!
I pray you have a wonderful weekend, dear friend!
And I also just wanted to say how positively lovely your photo is on your profile to the side- beautiful! And the light of the Lord is in your countenance always.
Love and blessings!

What a wonderful quote by Charles Spurgeon! It is so true that others watch our lives more closely than we realize. Thank you for this gentle reminder, sweet friend. Sending you love and hugs!
ReplyDeleteWonderful quote and convicting Bible verse! Being reminded to live a set apart life before the world is something I need every day. :)
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of this quote by Spurgeon. I love it! It is so true... for some, we are the only Bible that they will ever read. May our lives always exemplify Christ living in us and through us! Hugs to you today dear friend :)
ReplyDeleteThis was wonderful, Kelly-Anne! I always enjoy your Thursday Pearls, they are encouraging to me! {{smiles}}
