Grave News...

Dearest friends...
I have very gave news to share with you this morning...
I come to you asking for prayer for our family and for other families in our area...

This morning we evacuated our house and now are blessed to be sitting safely at a dear friend's house in town - our home burnt down a couple hours ago and we lost everything in the fire.

I woke up at 6am to the smell of smoke and a little sister crawling into bed with me as she was frightened by the terrible wind raging around our house.  You see, there was a storm last night...a terrible wind and a farm over the way caught alight.

Very soon, it was spreading from farm to farm, coming right our way.  At first we honestly didn't think we would actually have to leave...thus, we slowly gathered some of our most treasured possessions such as photographs and our computers and the sewing machines and put them into the car.  But literally 20 minutes later, we were frantically rushing about putting everything in the cars, loading everyone up and driving out.  The fire spread so rapidly, I cannot begin to actually describe how bizarre it was!  And the wind...it was horrendous and the smoke was so thick.

Our neighbour's driveway caught alight...and suddenly we knew had to get out and fast!  Praise the Lord, we could leave with our animals and a couple bags of items.  We did not think we would come back to no house.  We just assumed it would be there...  My dad dropped us off at our dear friend in town and went back home...but when he opened the door, a tremendous wave of heat hit him and he saw the inside of the house was black.

When he arrived here and told us the news...it was devastating.  Our home is gone.  Everything lost...everything.
Praise the Lord, our family is safe and our animals are with us.
In His graciousness, He moved on the heart of a kind lady at church who offered for us to stay in her holiday house for the time being free of charge.  We are blown away by her generosity...

Dear friends, this is a very painful time for our family...we are in absolute shock and disbelief, but there are many others suffering too...many other homes have been lost and the fire continues to spread.  And our country is in major drought...without water, fighting fire is virtually impossible!

Please, please pray for the Lord to send rain we so desperately need...to protect those fighting the fires...to provide for those without and to give us strength for what lies ahead.

I hope to give you an update soon, dear friends...  I am unable to write to each of you individually at this stage, but I hope to soon...  For now we can do nothing but cry unto the Lord and lean on Him.

With love in Christ,
Kelly-Anne

"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."

~ Deuteronomy 31:6

  1. Oh my dear Kelly-Anne. I sit here with chills and tears in my eyes as I read of this terrible news. There are really no words that I can say that can even come close to comfort you. First of all Praise God in all of His mercy that your family is SAFE and unharmed, physically...I pray no one in your area lost their lives. My heart goes out to you and your precious family as you face the days ahead. Blessings are already coming...you knew someone who let your family "borrow" their home. God is still good, I know you know that...and He's already working on finding your family a new home. I am leaving you with a favorite scripture... "Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:4-7

    Hugs and prayers,
    Debby

  7. Oh Kelly-Anne, I can barely type for the tears running down my face. I have no words...... I am so, so, so very sorry for this loss and oh, I can only imagine the heartache you are facing. God's Word says,

"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." -Isaiah 43:2

He is indeed with you and may you find precious comfort in His arms and presence. Please know that I am on my knees in prayer for you and your family as your take each day as it comes. Praise the Lord ALL of you are safe.

Sending you ever so much love!!

  8. Oh, Kelly-Anne, how devastating! I am praying for you, your family, and all the others affected by this awful fire. I'm so glad you have friends who can shelter you while you deal with this.

I wish we didn't live so far apart so I could help in more material ways. And give you an actual hug, not a virtual one, but I'll send one of those as well.

  14. Dear Kelly-Anne, I am here to today because the lovely Stephanie told us about your post and seeking prayers for you and family. I am so very sorry to hear this sad news. I want you to know that as soon as I read her post I stopped and prayed for the comfort of our Lord to be so very near to you all at this time and to show Himself in a mighty way. Oh the words ring to me right now that God will take our mess and turn it into a message and sweet girl, this is indeed a mess right now for you all. It's a loss. It's experiencing a death of a dear loved one. We lost our home in 1984 due to a fire and lost everything. I was expecting our 2nd child at the time. I can look back to so many years ago and see the hand of the Lord as He is carried us through that devastating time in our lives. . Proverbs 3:5-6 has been a great comfort to me: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” And Romans 8:28 says, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” The kicker here sweet girl is the Word says, He works for the good of those WHO love Him and it's obvious that you love our Lord. God sees the big picture in our life and all we can is the little picture. But sweet girl, cry and mourn because it's okay to do so! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  17. Dear, precious friend, Words fail me. All I could do is cry as I read your words. It is SO hard to understand why things like this happen to God's people. Surely, He was so merciful to protect all of you and your dear animals. Oh, to think of how much worse it could have been...it is just unthinkable. My heart goes out to all of you, dear friend. Please do keep me posted, as you can, and let me know that you are okay. Wish I could give you a big hug...please hug your dear mother for me. I can't imagine the grief in her heart today, also. Sending all our love to all of you and many, many prayers.

  30. Oh Kelly-Anne, words fail at this time to share just how sorrowful I feel for your family, and this loss that you have suffered! I know your strong faith in the Lord will get you through this difficult time, but it must be so very hard right now to comprehend all that you've lost! I've just posted on my blog about your family's situation, and have asked people to pray! We will be praying and believing that the Lord will send comfort and direction for your family in the middle of this devastation!

I have to say, it seems the Lord was preparing you for such a horrible event earlier in the week! I read your last two posts, and oh my! The very words you wrote were so prophetic! You wrote: But in the midst of difficulty, pain or trial, we need to maintain an Eternal perspective and embrace what the Lord is teaching us and lean more on Him... Our fight is not against flesh and blood (Eph 6:12)... And this is just our temporary home...

"Just our temporary home"... what an incredibly powerful statement you wrote there, and not even knowing what lay ahead of you in just a few short hours! Truly my friend, the Lord is going to be with you and your precious family through this... the Lord was preparing your heart for such a thing, even as unthinkable as it was... and He has a perfect plan in place for putting the pieces back together too... somehow! I will be praying and lifting your dear family up in prayer, praying and believing for the Lord to take care of you in miraculous ways, and to comfort your hurting hearts. With love, prayers and hugs!!!!

  33. Oh my, I am praying you and your family and neighbors, Kelly-Anne. I read of your tragedy with tears and a grieving heart this morning. Our area of Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains experienced the same type of devastation just last November, and while we were not affected ourselves, many were. We know how completely, without sufficient words to explain, just how tragic it is. We will continue our prayers for all affected in your area. I do have a question though: Do you have a GoFundMe account set up?
