Introducing Oscar...

Allow me to introduce to you, the most recent addition to our already bustling household...
Our sweet kitty, Oscar, who joined our family back in December...

We got him as a scrawny, five week old rescue kitten whose eyes were too big for his wee head and had a scruffy mustard coloured coat...
He looked like he was crossed with a racoon, a rat and an old, worn slipper thrown in for good measure...we wondered how on earth we had come to fall for such a cat...

But we believe he was sent to us.
Oscar has captured our hearts and become a special member of our family indeed...

It proved to be a case of The Ugly Duckling, for Oscar is now quite beautiful with dark markings on his paws, large ears and face and his smooth coat is of light colouring...he has exquisite greeny -blue eyes too which, when he is in his feral mood, gleam brightly with ferocity!

Although the sweetest of kitties and so very loving (he joins us wherever we may be...washing dishes...in the garden), Oscar has a wild side like any other cat, but these strange moods come on all of a sudden.
Thus, you may be cuddling him tenderly and in the next instant, he'll attempt to bite your finger off or attack your hand...
Poor Sofia, his favourite little person in the house (he jumps on to her bed each afternoon for a snuggle and nap), has had many incidents with her treasured little kitty!

As for the dogs...
Izzie, my dog, pretty much ignores him while Chloe, Beth's dog, is constantly at the mercy of Oscar's sharp claws and cunning ways.  They are virtually inseparable, although I would say they have something of a love/hate relationship and provide hours of entertainment for us...

The saying proves true that dogs have owners and cats have staff - it is quite amusing to see how Oscar, small as he may be, has trained us all to see to his needs in a prompt manner.
His wish is our command...wait...did I actually just write that?

Happy Tuesday, dear readers!

  2. Well, Mr. Oscar is just adorable! I also have an Oscar but he looks a lot more like a wienie dog than yours! LOL!

  3. Kelly-Anne,

This post certainly brought a smile to my face! I love cats, and have adopted a few feral cats over the years. Oscar personality makes me think of our cat Winston, however now that Winston is almost four he is a far calmer cat. He spends most of his time sleeping on the couch. : ) I hope you will share more pictures of Oscar soon! I loved your description of his kitten appearance!

  5. Too cute! Your descriptions of Oscar's appearance and temperament made me laugh. Was he named after Oscar the Grouch?!?

  7. Kelly-Anne,
Thank you for giving me such a smile in my heart with your sharings of your sweet little family addition. As you probably know from my blog, animals and wildlife are such a source of enjoyment for me and I just LOVED gazing upon Oscar's precious face and those gorgeous eyes, as well as hearing about his sweet and playful ways. What a rambunctious ball of sweetness and fun.

How blessed we are that our dear Lord would give us the joy of loving and caring for his creatures- and I know you are right that Oscar must have been sent to you, for what a loving family he has found.

Although this may sound random, dear friend, I do think of you and pray for you often and just wanted to also say while I'm thinking of it: thank you for your heart for Christ and example that you are to your sisters in Christ like me.

    Love and many hugs!

PS - I got a wonderful package from you yesterday. The granddaughters will love those owls and it was sweet of you to sent the bookmark along. I'll think of you whenever I'm reading! Thanks for the quick shipment and a lovely product!

  10. Oh, what a joy it is to "meet" little Oscar! He is such a cute little kitty and oh, how he reminds me of our little Duncan...he just turned 7 months old! Little kittens are the cutest (as are puppies), and they do the most fun and silly things...we love watching all the crazy things Duncan does. For example, he loves, loves, loves jumping on the door frames. He is also obsessed with chasing kleenex tissues...weird, I know.

I hope you all are enjoying him to pieces...do be sure to share pictures as he grows up!

    Lots of love always,
    Libby

  12. Oh yes, we are well familiar with the staff idea - dogs wait on us, but cats demand to be waited on, with no patience whatsoever! All on their terms too! LOL... I understand about the nice/mean kitties too. We have had a few like that. Cats are SO unpredictable! I'm glad he's sweet most of the time! Is he fixed? Sometimes that helps, if he's not. Hugs to you today, enjoyed this post, it gave me a smile :)
