outside my window ~
Now that South Africa is in lockdown, it is a lot quieter in our normally very busy, noisy neighbourhood.
It has been so wonderful to have some peace and quiet, and we are finding that we have more bird life in our garden...I even wake up to birdsong in the morning instead of traffic or people shouting.
What a gift!
in my cup ~
Earlier today it was a cup of coffee.
around the house ~
Everyone is busy with various projects they have on the go, such as the sanding and painting of furniture, the sewing of dolls clothes and the baking of treats, but we come together often...
If not around the table to share a meal, then outside in the garden for a cup of tea, or for our family devotions in the evenings.
reading ~
I am currently busy working my way through The Complete Novels and Stories of Sherlock Holmes, volume 1.
I have actually already read volume 2, so it is quite sad to think that soon I will have read all the Sherlock stories there are.
I also just finished When Tomorrow Comes by Janette Oke, which I really enjoyed.
listening to ~
I have been listening to a lot of hymns, both old and new, of late...
I find them so uplifting and encouraging, especially in these uncertain times.
watching ~
We have been watching season 7 of When Calls the Heart several evenings a week, and I have been working my way through season 1 of When Hope Calls while folding the laundry each day.
It is so lovely to have something clean and beautiful to watch every so often.
from the kitchen ~
As you can tell from the pictures above, I have been doing some baking...
I had been wanting to make hot cross buns for ever so long, and finally tried Mary Berry's simple, if somewhat time-consuming, recipe over the weekend, and was so pleased with the result!
Definitely worth all the effort!
creating ~
I have been doing quite a bit of sewing over the past week or so, starting with some sweet fabric pumpkins, then moving on to a tracksuit for Caleb, and birdy tea towels, which I will be sharing about soon.
in the garden ~
It has been wonderful being able to spend more time in the garden lately.
Dad has cleared new ground for me, so I am hoping to fill this new patch with more veggies and salad leaves.
Stay tuned for a garden update coming soon.
out and about ~
As we are in the midst of a national lockdown, no one is going anywhere, not even for a walk around the block.
one of my favourite things ~
Reconnecting with dear old friends in the world of blogging.
thankful for ~
Time at home with the people I love most in the world...
Evenings spent in prayer, worship and the reading of God's Word with my family,
and hearing how other families are drawing nearer to the Lord too...
Fellowship with dear friends via video calls.
dreaming of ~
Being able to go for a long, refreshing walk along the beach when the lockdown rules lift.
hoping ~
To use this time wisely and for the glory of God...
To get around to all the cleaning and organising that is on our to-do lists.
quiet moments ~
I love that the pace of life has slowed and that I can be home, my favourite place to be.
for the love of words ~
"The great thing about faith in God is that it keeps a man undisturbed in the midst of disturbance."
~ Oswald Chambers
A beautiful truth to hold on to in these troubling times.
A blessed April to you, sweet friends...
I would love to hear what it happening in your world this month!
Blessings,
Kelly-Anne
Happy Monday, dear friend ♥ What a delight to see this post pop up in my feed just now...those hot cross buns look so scrumptious! I've had those on my "to-bake" list for years now and just haven't ever gotten around to them. Perhaps I should change that sometime soon! {{winks}}
ReplyDeleteOh, I feel you...I will be happily more than ready to go out on a ride in the countryside and enjoy some nature time at a park when this virus makes its way out of here. This evening, mom, Julia and I went on a little ride in the car around town...not getting out, just staying in our car, which at the moment is allowed. It was SUCH a strange thing to see all the shops closed and parking lots emptied and literally no one out, except for two people jogging. The traffic has almost diminished...it's honestly quite sad to see. On the upside, we also enjoyed some wonderful time outside chatting this afternoon, the scent of freshly cut grass and sound of birds chirping filling the air...it gave me hope despite all the dark news. Reading your post gave me hope, too, sweet friend! Oh how nice it is to "visit" together through the connection of blogging...
hoping you are well and wishing you a restful, peaceful, lovely week, Kelly-Anne! Chat to you soon ♥ Love and hugs!
Sweet friend,
DeleteThank you for taking the time to visit and leave me a note - I love hearing from you!
I hope your week has been a splendid one thus far?
Oh, do make these delicious hot cross buns...such a simple recipe and absolutely worth the hours of rising time!
Thinking of you and sending hugs your way!
I am really loving your new camera photos! You are doing such a GREAT job!! I so loved catching up with you, too, and hearing about what is going on in your world during the lockdown. I love the sense of stillness we are all feeling right now, in spite of the sadness outside. God is forcing us into a place where we cannot be uncumbered with the fast moving pace the world around us demands. It is really a blessing, in spite of all. My heart goes out to all who are suffering, and I trust God to keep all of us safe and healthy, continually. Much love to you today, sweet friend. :)
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you for your Lind words, dear Cheryl! Having a powerful camera makes a big difference... Can't wait to venture somewhere new to take photographs when this lockdown is over!
DeleteI have to agree with you...the stillness we are experiencing in this time is indeed wonderful, and I am so thankful to have the Lord walking before us...we can be at peace in this crazy world.
Sending much love your way!
Glad to hear from you Kelly-Anne. We are still in lock down here in New York. We have a lot of seeds to plant soon. We are staying in and ordering our groceries on line. Stay well and safe. Wishing you and yours a Happy and Joyous Easter.

Lovely to have you visit, Mari! Hope you give this recipe a try...I have made hot cross buns before, but these are by far the best!
DeleteHappy Tuesday!
Everything here in New York is hut down. We have ordered seeds and flower plants. The marigold seeds and the pansy seeds have arrived but the six pansy flowers to be planted will arrive in a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteStay safe you and yours Blessings and A Happy Easter.
Marion
Morning Marion, thank you so much for stopping by.
DeleteI am so glad to hear that some of the seeds arrived - gardening is such a wonderful thing to do during these unsettling times.
Have a blessed week further!
Have you relocated to an urban area?
ReplyDeleteThe hot cross buns look great! Perfect for a hot cup of tea (for me)!
I started watching When Calls the Heart last fall because a friend told me that it had a lot of tea scenes. I've finished the first 3 seasons so far.
Hello Margie!
DeleteYes, we moved to town after the fire in 2017, and again when our family got back from China. We currently find ourselves in a central part of town, opposite a school and on a main thoroughfare.
Hope you enjoy When Calls the Heart...it is a favourite around here!
Have a lovely day!
Lovely pictures Kelly! They tasted great! Love you- Gabrielle
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet girl! Love you too!
DeleteWhat a beautifully written post my friend! It's so good to hear from you and know that you and your family are well. We are very quiet here in our town...and especially in our neighborhood. I'm cooking and cleaning but haven't done a lot of sewing or crafting. I may try to start a new project today. The weather is beautiful and I want to be outside some too. Take care and stay healthy! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHello Diane,
DeleteIt is so good to have you visit... I am thankful for this time of being able to connect with dear friends again!
Happy creating... And enjoy the time out in nature!
Blessings and love to you!
PS We are watching When Calls the Heart too. We don't watch much tv but this is favorite! Take care!
ReplyDeleteSame here, Diane! We have especially limited screen time during this lockdown...there are so many more worthwhile things to do than watch TV. But...When Calls the Heart is an exception and a rare treat! The whole family love it!
DeleteHi Kelly-Anne! I came across your blog over on Marilyn's blog, Mountain Top Spice, and I am so glad I did! Your blog is simply beautiful. I am looking forward to reading your posts.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are "breaking ground" today for my own little vegetable garden. I can't wait to see pictures of your garden.
Those Hot Cross Buns look absolutely delicious!
I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Easter!
Love,
Annie
