"What day is it?" asked Pooh.
"It's today," squeaked Piglet.
"My favourite day," said Pooh.

Hello lovely readers...
The chilly Autumn sun is casting her golden morning light upon our little corner of the world.
There is a stillness in the air, broken only by the occasional rumble of an engine, and the cheerful twittering of the birds as they joyfully welcome the arrival of a brand new day.
Today should have been the second last day of our 21 day lockdown, but instead we face an additional two weeks of being confined to our homes...
As I am nursing an ear and throat infection, these quiet days at home are just what I need to regain my strength.
I thought I would stop in with a few pictures of the little things I have been enjoying lately. ♥
Our world may be all topsy turvey, but our home is a haven; a place of peace and calm in the midst of a turbulent sea...
I decided it was high time I pick up my knitting needles and begin working on a new project...
At the moment I am busy on a ribbed cowl in gorgeous grey yarn...
And when I need a little break from knitting, I have a rather gripping new book to read...
I came across A Light to My Path by historical and Biblical fiction author, Lynn Austin, in a second hand bookstore quite some time ago, and am currently 200 pages in to this beautifully written novel...
I would love to find the other books in this series.

My lovely baby spinach is growing quite prolifically, and we harvest leaves almost every evening for our salad...
I spent some time in the garden on Saturday just before I started feeling under the weather, so my plants are quite happy for the time being.
Dad and I need to find a moment to stake up the rambling pea plants, though...

A few weeks ago the sweet potatoes we had in our veggie basket started sending out little runners, so I cut them off, along with a small slice of the sweet potato, and popped them in some soil...
And here they are growing quite happily in my little garden.
We used to grow sweet potato on the farm and were always amazed at how easy they were maintain.

Our little ones have been spending hours playing out of doors...
The other day they were playing Zorro (they have been watching the 1957 Zorro series with Guy Williams), and have now moved on to some sort of camping game...sheets and blankets are daily hauled out to the front yard, and snacks are carried off in a basket to be munched in their tents.
We try to spend as much time outside as possible, and even had a family picnic in the front yard over the weekend.
Cooler weather is coming, so we are making the most of these moderate days.
How pretty these buds look amidst the greenery in this vase...
It has been wonderful spending time blessing our home lately, although, with nine people living here 24/7, things don't stay tidy for very long! {{Smiles}}
The girls found a little chameleon today...isn't he sweet?
I love chameleons and remember having so many in our garden when I was a child...at one stage there were even baby chameleons.
I just had to share a little peek of the birdy tea towels Mom and I have been sewing.
We have plenty more to sew (a friend gave us a big piece of waffle-weave fabric), but that will have to wait....this week we are planning a small high tea for Gabrielle who is celebrating her thirteenth birthday this coming Friday.
♥
Well, sweet friends, may your day be lovely as you strive to choose joy and spend time cultivating a thankful heart.
I would love to hear what you have been up to lately...it always brightens my day to hear from my dear readers!
With love,

Oh, I do hope you feel better soon! I do seem to remember reading that book, I wish I could remember. I always wished I had journaled all the books I have read in my life.
ReplyDeleteAll your plants look healthy and the pretty vase is nice, even just a bit of greenery can make a dash of nature make us happy! Your little bird towel is sweet, I do love birds!!
Hugs, Roxy
Aww, your sweet note brightened my afternoon, thank you, dear Roxy!
DeleteI have started keeping track of books I read on Goodreads...I love seeing my progress and looking back on all the books I have read over the past while!
I must say, I really am enjoying A Light to my Path...it is so beautifully written.
Oh, and I must tell you...my mom loves birds too (one of her favourite little things is watching the birds eat the seed she puts out on her bird feeders), so that is why we chose the birdy design for our tea towels.
Have a blessed Wednesday further...much love! ♥
I just love reading your blog. You do such a lovely job. I will pray that you feel better. It's so amazing to me that we are experiencing opposite seasons. I have been working outside to get ready to plant...hopefully. Our heritage seeds have been delayed due to high demand. It is what it is. Praying your and your family have a good week.
ReplyDeleteOh, I so love hearing from you, dear Lady Linda! ♥
DeleteThank you for taking the time to stop by! I do hope your seeds arrive soon so that you'll be able to get them in the ground...isn't Spring such a delightful, hopeful season? Thank you for your prayers!
Sending much love your way. ♥
What an extremely lovely blog post. That photo of the little chameleon is absolutely STUNNING. And coincidence! I'm reading and enjoying "A Light To Guide My Path" as well! And, we too have sweet potatoes growing contentedly in our garden :)
ReplyDeleteI've missed your beautiful blog, Kelly. I've enjoyed my visit very much ♥ Happy birthday to Gabrielle! I hope there will be photos.

Have a blessed evening, friend!
♥
OH, I hate to hear that you aren't feeling well, bless your heart! I am so thankful you can be home and take care of yourself and recover. I LOVE those dish towels! Oh, I just love waffle fabric. My sweet aunt gave me a waffle dish towel, and though it is getting old and stained, I cannot bear to let it go because every time I see it and use it I think of her. Funny how the smallest things can mean so much!
ReplyDeleteDear Cheryl,
DeleteYour visits are always a blessing! ♥ Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and leave me a kind note!
I loved hearing about the tea towel your aunt gifted you with and how you remember her by it...so special!

Sending much love your way...hoping to respond to your email tomorrow!

I have started written in a journal (started about 2 years ago) the books I have read. Just finished "My Irish History" by Malachy Mc Court and am now reading "My Dear Hamilton".
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GABRIELLE Wishing you a joy filled day and a year of happiness and blessings.
Marion
Oh, Marion...thank you so much for being such a faithful reader of my little blog...I love having you visit! ♥
DeleteApart from keeping track of my reading progress on Goodreads, I am keeping a journal of books read too...just list a of the titles, the date completed, and how many stars I would give them.
May your day be a lovely one...blessings!
Hi Kelly-Anne, Hope you are feeling better soon. Your garden is going to be great. Love the photo of Sophia and Caleb peeking out of the tent. They are adorable. I just finished reading a biography of Lucy Maud Montgomery by Mollie Gillen. I have just started Emma by Jane Austen. Wishing Gabrielle a birthday filled with happiness and blessings. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GABRIELLE.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn
Oh, I know you will love Emma by Jane Austen...I actually read her incomplete novel, The Watsons, over the weekend. How sad she never finished writing it...I know it would have been a really wonderful story!
DeleteThank you, I can't wait to feel stronger and get into the garden again!
Blessings!
♥
Dear Kelly-Anne,
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed your beautiful post! You and your family are filling these days with so many lovely activities, which I am sure will become special memories. Your photography is stunning. The baby spinach looks so fresh and vibrant. It has me longing to start our vegetable garden. : )
I am sorry you haven't felt well. Ear infections are miserable! I am praying you will be on the mend soon!
Sarah
Dear Sarah,
DeleteOh, it was SO lovely to have you stop by! I do hope all is well in your corner of the world...you are often in my thoughts! ♥
Hugs to you!
Oh Kelly-Anne - I loved this! First, I so appreciated your description of our homes as Havens. That is the perfect word to describe what we want our homes to be.
ReplyDeleteI've read a lot of Lynn Austins books and enjoyed them. She actually lives about 25 minutes from me. :)
Your knitting looks nice, I really like that yarn.
The picture of the kids is so cute!
Hello Mari! ♥
DeleteOh, I am so glad to hear you enjoyed this little post...how wonderful it is to be blogging regularly again! And I love being able to connect with my blog friends again! How interesting to hear Lynn Austin lives near you... She is definitely becoming one of my favourite authors.
Happy Thursday...may it be a good one!
♥
Hi Kelly-Anne,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're under the weather. I'll keep yours and your family's health in my prayers. Oh my, the little birdy tea towel is adorable! I just love how the things we surround ourselves with can affect our mood. I loved seeing your plantings. I'm trying to grow some sweet potato slips for our garden, but I forgot to start them until this week.
I've been doing mostly the same as I normally do, a little gardening, a little sewing and walks around our pasture. We have no animals currently as there is now a huge number of houses on the hill behind our property. "City folk" don't understand why anyone would want to keep a cow or pigs, etc. LOL Such is my life for the time being.
Have a great day!
Toni
Hello dear Toni and happy Friday! We just finished up Gabrielle's birthday luncheon...ahh, was ever so lovely! I can't wait to share pictures of the special event! ♥
DeleteAww, I am so sorry to hear you aren't able to keep any animals - I do so miss having chickens and a cow...so I understand how you feel!
Sending hugs your way!
Hi Kelly-Anne, hope you feel better soon, How nice to read how your days are spent, I find so much peace as I red.
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing joy and hope among so much sorrow so many are experiencing.
The potato planting was a great help, as sometimes my potatoes sprout while in the basket too!.
Blessings,
Sue
I loved having you visit, Sue! Thank you for your kind words.
DeleteHappy weekend to you...may it be a blessed, peaceful one.
♥
Lovely post, Kelly-Anne! I certainly hope that you are feeling better today and that you will be feeling fine for Gabrielle's birthday tea. This will be a birthday she is not likely to forget!
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to see all of the sweet and homey things that you and your family are up to. The birdy tea towel is so sweet! And it was wonderful to see your green growing things and the children's outdoor play.
I've heard wonderful things about Lynn Austin's writing and am happy that you have a riveting book to enjoy!
Blessings,
Mrs. T
Oh, I always love having you stop by, Mrs T!
DeleteI am so thankful to be feeling stronger today...just in time for Gabrielle's birthday celebrations! {{smiles}}
Sending much love across the miles!

I love that little quote from Winnie the Pooh! Such a good reminder to focus on today and be thankful. Even though a lot of our world has been thrown on its head we can remember that God is in control and we don't have to worry about tomorrow. He will take care of that when we get there. Thank you for all the lovely pictures of what's been happening in your world.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you have been sick. I am praying you heal up quickly.
Oh, such a blessing to have you visit, Annie! Thank you for stopping by and for your prayers...I am feeling a lot better! ♥
DeleteIsn't this the sweetest quote? I want to print it out for my collection...you're right, it is a wonderful reminder to cherish every moment and be thankful for each new day the Lord gives to us!
I hope all is well in your corner of the world...I am sure you are having fun in your new garden!
Much love,
Kelly-Anne
Oh, sweet friend! Every post you share is always such a gift to read..you share such beauty and inspiration, and I just love popping by!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that you've gotten back into knitting. That is one of my favorite things ever...it's such a cozy, relaxing hobby and surely has some delightful results, too! That yarn is a delicious color {{smiles} I love that tea towel you made! The colors are so cheery and the little birdie is just the sweetest ♥ I also love that the leaves in the photo look like little hearts...such a wonder nature is!
I do hope you are feeling better...I'll be emailing you this weekend! {{smiles}} Thinking of you often, dear Kelly-Anne! Sending ever so much love your way ♥

Hello Kelly-Anne! First let me apologize for not visiting back sooner. This is such a lovely post...loved catching up with what's been happening in your little corner of the world. I do hope that by now, you are feeling much better...and you are right, there is no place like home, especially when you don't feel well. The gray cowl is going to be beautiful...lovely yarn! I see that you are growing spinach in a pot...I have been eating so much of it lately. Hang in there with that full house of yours! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHello Debby...so good to hear from you! It has been wonderful connecting with blogging friends again! I am going to stop by your blog for a bit of a catch up in a moment...♥
DeleteThank you, I am feeling like my old self today! Got lots of plans for the week ahead!
Sending hugs your way!
I also watched Zorro when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteJust started Week 6 of lockdown living. It's still a little chilly, but some of the plants are starting to grow outside.
Always so good to have you visit, Margie!
DeleteWe are in week 4 of lockdown and I am wondering how we are going to make it till the end of April! {{smiles}} Learning to take it one moment at a time. Hope work is going well!

ReplyDeleteBy the way - I tagged you for The Mystery Blogger Award at Only by Grace, should you feel like participating :)

Hello Jeanette, lovely to have you stop by! ♥
DeleteAww, thank you so much for tagging me...I really appreciate it! Off to read your post now!
That little bird towel is sweet, Kelley-Anne. Dish towels are expensive when we buy them at the stores, and how nice that you are able to sew some with your mom. What a cute picture of the chameleon. You know, Jess has had her pet lizard for a long time, and its name is Miles. The grey yarn you chose for knitting is a soft pretty color. I'm glad you are keeping busy doing interesting and creative things during this stay-at-home time, Kelly-Anne.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Oh, always such a JOY having you visit, dear Sheri! ♥
DeleteI have SO enjoyed these few weeks at home! Tomorrow I head back to work (I au pair for a doctor's family which means I am allowed to work), so life should feel pretty normal again... I still have loads of projects I want to get stuck into.
I do hope all is well in your corner of the world...sending hugs your way!
