Greetings, dear readers.
Today I am enjoying a rare day off from work, as the family I au pair for, are away for the weekend.
With Autumn having now officially arrived in the Southern Hemisphere, I have been in the mood for a bit of deep cleaning and organizing, starting with my bedroom...
This morning I cleaned the windows, washed my curtains and bedding and gave everything a good dust and tidy up.
Earlier today we got several boxes of fresh, export quality figs in, so
this weekend will see me in the kitchen making delicious fig jam...
and hopefully I will be able to get stuck into the garden somewhere along the line too...
The peas are now all up, the sweet potatoes have been planted, and lettuce is popping up everywhere, after we left our summer crop to go to seed.
I want to plant some Swiss Chard and another crop of carrots and kale...it is definitely getting cooler, so I need to hurry.
^Brassica seedlings almost ready to be transplanted into the garden.
^Lush radish seedlings...won't be long till we harvest these little beauties!
I also have some lovely grey tracksuit fabric waiting to be made into a new tracksuit for Caleb.
My mom and sisters sorted our fabrics and patterns this week, and we are all feeling quite inspired to do more sewing this Autumn.
In fact, as I sit writing this, Nancy is listening to opera music full blast while working at the sewing machine whipping up a little French-inspired dress for Gabrielle.
And now I must show you what our little ones have been up to...
^Dress up was the game of choice today and even Caleb wanted to join in the fun.
^Caleb's flowerpot hat is hilarious...and so is his face.
^Sofia looking quite elegant.
^Our lovely Rebekah.
I hope that each of you have a lovely, peaceful weekend.
I would love to hear what you are keeping yourselves busy with!
Blessings,
Kelly-Anne
Dear friend, I have NO idea what happened, but today I received 16 blog posts from you all in one! I have thought of you many times and wondered how you were doing but just assumed you hadn't been blogging. And, lo and behold, I got to have a "Diary of a Country Girl" marathon all in one setting! OH, how I enjoyed catching up with you today! So much has happened in your life, it sounds, and it is good to know you are healthy and happy. I have no idea why I stopped getting your posts, but am so thankful all 16 came through today. It was so nice to hear from you. Sending much love from the US and hoping you all are not being affected by the coronavirus in your part of the world. Many blessings to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Cheryl, it was SO good to see your sweet note pop up! I am going to write you an email in reply...it has been much too long since the last time we spoke! Blessings to you! So glad you stopped in for a visit today!
DeleteHi Kelly-Anne;
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice hearing from you. You sure have a nice garden. It seems that you and your family have green thumbs. we have been staying in doors and doing all our shopping on line. Recently Marilyn and I raked, cleaned and planted daffodil plants. I am reading "Our Irish History" by Malachy McCourt, just finished "The Path TO Freedom" by Michael Collins. we will be doing Spring cleaning in this part of the world. Stay safe and well.
Marion
It is always lovely having you stop by, Marion! I really appreciate your sweet notes. It sounds like you have been quite industrious of late. I love daffodils! Your garden is going to be so beautiful come Spring! Happy reading and Spring cleaning!
DeleteHi Kelly-Anne, Thank You for the latest post and update. Your country is about to receive the most beautiful season on earth. The air is crisp and the leaves turn beautiful colors. I love the outfits the children had on. Marion and I planted a few Daffodil bulbs and seeded our front grass recently. Today I ordered Pansy seeds. I am reading the second book of The Dublin Saga: The Rebels of Ireland, it is 800 plus pages. The first book was The Princes of Ireland, it was 700 plus pages. I am almost finished with the second book. It is about the struggles of the Irish under British rule. Kelly-Anne enjoy the season of Autumn. I love seeing photos of your sibling, they are adorable.God Bless you and yours.
